Most modern Fenix flashlights use 21700 or 18650 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Compact models may use 16340 (CR123A size) cells, and some headlamps accept standard AA or AAA batteries.
Fenix flashlights work with any quality lithium-ion battery of the correct size. However, Fenix-branded batteries are tested for compatibility and include built-in protection circuits that guard against over-discharge and short circuits.
Charge time depends on the battery capacity and charger. A typical 21700 cell charges in about 2.5 to 3 hours using a Fenix ARE-D1 single-slot charger. Multi-slot chargers may take slightly longer when charging multiple cells simultaneously.
